Professional Halloween Performers and Actors

Exbury was running their annual steam train Halloween experience with a crew of ghoulish characters during October half term. The actors job was to haunt the train tracks and entertain families with slapstick comedy performances! This event sells out every year and runs for seven days. Just putting people in Halloween costumes isn’t what they needed it had to be experienced Actors too.

Finding Actors who could work with the Covid-19 Restrictions

Because of the pandemic, the actors had to be able to do their own make-up because of ‘Social Distancing’ and they had to learn the script at home with only one rehearsal!

So we needed to find VERY experienced performers who could adapt to the changes but they had to be able to do all seven days as we couldn’t swap anyone out.

So we got to work and cast to people who lived locally but had the experience. Fortunately we had a great response and we booked six actors who all had panto experience too. One of our performers was also a professional face Painter so she was able to guide the rest of the team on how to apply their make-up.

Providing Actors during the Covid-19 Pandemic

This was not a straight forward task, both Exbury Gardens and our agency had to make changes to ensure all staff, performers and families travelling on the ‘Spooky Express’ were safe and following government guidance.

We had to work with each performer making sure they knew what the latest government guidance was at that time and this was a challenge in itself because it was constantly changing.

How did the Halloween Train Event go?

With HUGE success! The tickets sold out and Exbury adapted the entire experience so families could still have a great time but be safe too.
