Sustainability in Events - A Green Start to 2024 In a world increasingly conscious of…
July 19th Freedom Day! How do you feel about it?
After months of strict regulations as to when and where to wear facemasks and observing social distancing, the lifting of restrictions has left everyone with personal choices to make. With Covid still a problem, especially to those unable to be vaccinated, and new variants appearing; going maskless or going out among crowds can be worrying. The constant risk of being pinged and told to self isolate, and the worry that you might have made someone close to you ill as a result is nerve racking.
Many people are feeling anxious, worried and uncertain while trying to decide how to react.
Such reactions are totally normal. Change is scary, especially in the current circumstances and we have all been undergoing massive changes since that first lockdown last year.
Adjusting takes time
Take time to adjust, there is no need to try and do everything at once. Socialise in the ways that makes you feel comfortable and safe.
If you still feel comfortable wearing a mask in shops, or on transport – do so. You will not be alone in doing so. Many transport companies have stated that masks are required on buses or the London Underground, while many shops recommend them too.
Be cautious and stay safe. Choose the activities and lifestyle that suits you.
Don’t forget the benefits!
Remember there are also some advantages to the lifting of restrictions. You can be a little more flexible in your lifestyle. Instead of having to plan ahead, booking spaces to go to museums or pubs – you can be much more spontaneous and just take an evening out when you like. You can also meet up in larger groups, meet friends and family or go to family celebrations.
Be mindful of your own needs and those of other people. Respect the fact that others will be worried and anxious, although they may not show it. Everyone will take time to adjust to this new reality. It might take a while to get your confidence back, but it will happen. Remember you are not alone and there is always help if you need it.
