Should I Hire a Professional Event Manager for Promotions and Campaigns?

Did you last promotional event feel a little chaotic behind-the-scenes? Were you left wanting with just how badly it was run? Did you get through it by the skin of your teeth? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, we would hazard a guess that you didn’t have an events manager. Here’s why you need one for your next promotional event.

Your next event could be a fun-packed day of giveaway and sales or it could be a week-long event that sees you travel across the country. No matter how big or small a promotional event is, it is important. There are goals that need exceeding and objectives that must be met.

With so much time, effort, money and resources poured into a promo campaign, you want to reap rewards. You need to reap the rewards. You can’t afford for it to descend into chaos… you need an events manager.

An event manager will…

  • support/motivate/direct promotion staff – hiring promotional staff is only half the story because at the event, depending on the size, number of staff hired etc., you need someone to act at their go-to person. An event manager with experience will understand that for promo staff to really do their job well, they need support, motivation, direction and help too.
  • brief promotional staff – without an up to date brief, promotional staff will think of their feet which is great except the solutions they come up with to promote your brand, product or service may not be what you want or how you want it. An event manager will be the person responsible for briefing all promo staff.
  • be the one-point-of-contact for everyone – from local press reporters wanting the low down on the event to promo staff arriving to take part in a specific activity and so on. everything and everybody should touch base with the event manager at various points during the day, freeing you up to enjoy the event and see it for what it really is.
  • coordinate and share changes to the schedule – change happens. Everything is set in stone and then something happens. The group booked for the gig can’t make it, the clown is stuck in traffic and due to perform in five minutes… you get the picture. When there needs to be change, the event manager can instigate it and share it so that everyone knows the new arrangements for what they should be doing and when.
  • feedback – ideas for future events and, most importantly, how they can be improved will be music to your ears, especially when you have a professional, experienced events manager on your side.

Do you need to hire an events manager?

Maybe not. But if you want a smooth running promotion campaign that moves away from the fine line between chaos and fun, then yes you do. Fiendishly clever when it comes to organising whilst remaining calm and being able to see the bigger picture why would you take the chance and not hire a professional events manager?
