Looking for something different to promote your brand? It can be a constant battle to…
Be Creative When Promoting Your Event
Promoting your participation in an event, and making sure that people come to see you rather than your competitors requires good promotional strategies. Identifying those strategies and quickly implementing them is important – and it doesn’t mean spending lots of money.
Know your audience
Make sure you target your audience – choose activities that will appeal to your target market. If you are planning to hold workshops, or undertake demonstrations then you will only need a small space, possibly even a pop-up venue.
Targeting a massive catchment of potentially thousands of people by sponsoring a big event such as a festival will not only be more expensive, but will require a lot of space, and considerable logistic support.
Identifying your specific goals will mean you can properly target your marketing activity.
Budgeting
Work out your budget and stick to it. Be ready to take advantage of any free or low cost marketing opportunities perhaps by partnering with other businesses to encourage cross-promotions. Use free event websites to attract publicity and get word out about your event.
Be creative in your activities
Giveaways, competitions always attract large numbers of people. Think about competitions that are relevant to your product or service. A cooking class could include a competitive element by allowing judges to choose their favourite dishes. Charity events often seek donations such as gift cards and products from local businesses to use as prizes. It is all good publicity. Consider holding a treasure hunt with the possibility of prizes, even if it is just discount codes or free entry to an event. Awards ceremonies get people interested – it can show you are caring about your community, your business.
Work with influencers
Event companies like Envisage offer access to a wide range of local influencers, people who can add information on their websites, social media for a relatively small fee. They can also promote your event by hosting special behind the scenes tours, or special events.
PR stunts
Generate some buzz with a PR stunt. Even just hosting a costumed character can attract attention, or why not use a small crowd to burst into song and dance at an unexpected location. It certainly attracts attention and makes people stop, watch, post on social media. Invite some journalists along for some free publicity.
Early bird discounts
Offer generous discounts for buying tickets early. People like being able to save some money.
